COMMENT                   Bright Star Catalogue, 4th Edition

COMMENT The fourth edition of "The Bright Star Catalogue" (Hoffleit 1982) is an 
COMMENT updated and improved version of the previous edition published in 1964  
COMMENT by the same author.  In addition to the large number of newly determined
COMMENT fundamental data, such as photoelectric magnitudes, MK spectral types,  
COMMENT parallaxes, and radial velocities, the new version contains new data and
COMMENT information not included in the third edition.  Valuable information,   
COMMENT such as the identification of IR sources, U-B and R-I colors, radial    
COMMENT velocity comments (indication and identification of spectroscopic and   
COMMENT occultation binaries), and projected rotational velocities, is included 
COMMENT for the first time in the fourth addition, while the equatorial         
COMMENT coordinates for equinoxes 1900 and 2000 are recorded to greater         
COMMENT precision (0.1 sec in right ascension, 1 arcsec in declination).  The   
COMMENT remarks section of the catalogue has been expanded and improved to      
COMMENT contain many details concerning variability, spectral characteristics,  
COMMENT duplicity, and group membership, and the remarks have been segregated by
COMMENT category to improve information retrieval and readability.  The         
COMMENT catalogue in general contains data compiled through 1979; however, some 
COMMENT information and variable-star designations found through 1981 are       
COMMENT included in the remarks and many variable-star names have subsequently  
COMMENT been transferred to the data file.
